Reading throughout the School
Reading progression across the year groups
Take a look at our immersive, woodland library
In 2023, the library was enhanced to create an immersive space for children to enjoy the pleasure of reading. This also links to our 'Forest School' that children participate in throughout the year. Each class has a dedicated, weekly session in the library for children to experience the immersion into the woodland area and to lose themselves in the world of reading. During these sessions, pupils and teachers engage in 'Book Talk' and share what they are reading, their recommendations and talk about their favourite authors.
World Book Day 2024
For World Book Day this year, we focused on connections with books and asked the children to come as a character from a book they would personally recommend. We explored a wide range of genres including Dr Seuss and the poet - James Weldon-Johnson.
Year 5 surprised Mr Taylor as the Oompa Loompas to his Wonka, along with other characters. In all other year groups as you can see from the photos, we had lots of fun with story and poem activities.
