Attendance

At Cayton School, we believe that every student deserves the best education possible, which is why we place such a strong emphasis on good attendance. Research shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve better grades, develop strong study habits, and attain higher levels of academic achievement.

Our school attendance target is 96%. This is highlighted in our Friday Attendance Assembly. Our weekly figures are broken down into class percentages and the highest attending class, each week, receives the Attendance Trophy.

Every child with 96%+ attendance is awarded a raffle ticket for our family reward raffle at the end of each half term. Pupils with extenuating circumstances are also considered for the raffle. The winning ticket receives a prize for their whole family!

Children and parents are aware that if a pupil's attendance drops towards 90%, this is considered persistent absence and support is offered to enable families to ensure their child's attendance improves.

Weekly Attendance 2024 - 2025

Our School attendance figure to date is 95.32%, compared to the national average of 93.4%. Last Year's attendance was a fantastic 95.86%, meaning that our whole school attendance percentage was 3% above the national average for the year.

Well done to Year 3 in our penultimate spring week, winning our attendance trophy for a second week in a row, with 98.89% attendance!
